My health is failing me :(

First it was the benign bone tumour, which is still under investigation by my orthopedic surgeon - now I've got migrane that wouldn't leave me alone, has been lingering for 8 days now, and worse, it has affected my speech, my writing & typing skills.

But then, as excellent & advanced as Australia's medical system & technology may be, there's nothing worse than being sick di negara orang, whereby there are hardly anyone who can offer you physical & moral support. My poor mum, dad, and baby sisters are all feeling so helpless as they can't do much overseas - but pray.

Which is why, it was such a joy having family friends who came and visited me last night, just to make sure I was alright, even dropped off some religious reading material to give me some peace of mind. The timing couldn't be better as my hubby had to work late last night. So thank you, The Hunts, for your sincere kindness. I can't remember the last time I was "dijenguk" by anyone when I was sick - especially when I was in hospital dying 3 years ago, after giving birth to Tristan. Not a single soul came to visit me :( except for my hubby, of course.

Jadi, moral dari cerita di atas:

1. Hold on close to people who you love dearly, treat them as you would yourself, you never know when you might need them for any type of support.

2. To my dear friends who have hit the big 30 & over, please take good care of yourself - we're not young anymore. Watch out for what you eat & do exercise regularly. God knows I haven't done those 2 in years.

Cheers, mateys!

"I LOVE YOU"

Alysha finally said her first 3-word sentence, and I'm glad to say it goes something like this... "I... LOVE... YOU!"

Her little brother Tristan has been saying these lovely words since he was 2, but coming from Alysha, now 4 1/2, it took me by surprise - something I definitely wouldn't take for granted. She now religiously says the words before I put her to sleep - how sweet is that???

Having a child with disability has changed my life quite a bit. Initially, it turned my world up-side-down, but in the end LOTS of good things came out of it.

With Tristan, being such a lively & advanced lad, his development seems as though it always happens overnight. He excells so quickly, I don't even notice it sometimes. As we speak, he's learing to say the word: TELECOMMUNICATION - smart little bugger, isn't he? With Alysha, it's a completely different story. Each & every achievement is like a big trophy - for myself & Alysha. The first time she crawled, clapped, walked, jumped, ect... those were the highlights of my life because they didn't come easily; lots of hardwork & frustration were put in it.

So folks... imagine just how it made me feel when I first heard Alysha say, "I LOVE YOU." No man in this world would have made the same impact on me saying those words... not even Brandon Routh!

Superman Returns

They couldn't have picked a more 'appropriate' lead for the role of the new & improved Superman. That Routh guy... man-oh-man, for a moment there I forgot I was married! He's a fine bloke to begin with, but with that outfit on... My-Oh-My!

Growing up as a tomboy (thank's Papa, for treating me as a 'son'), I was surrounded by superhero icons... from Batman-Superman-Spiderman to Jap's Voltus & Goggle 5 (did I spell it right? Oh well...) you name it. My dad would bring back from the US superhero comic books, videos, posters, even floaties. By the time I was 10, I was madly in love with a Jap cartoon character called Kenichi, for God's sake!

So watching Superman Returns at 30 really took me back. I found myself as a 7 year-old girl drooling all over him again. I was totally like, "My hero..."

Roger, my husband who thinks he could be the next 'dark' Superman, was understandably jealous; Yet, he was prepared to purchase an XXL Superman outfit for him to put on... for my amusement ;) in private, of course.

The things he'd do for me... Love him!

What was I up to?

Late 70's: developed interest in my dad's & uncles' records - I was so hung up in music, I though my dad was actually A RAFIQ <Indonesian pioneer Dang Dut singer in the 70s>...

1980's: moved on to Madonna, spent most of my afterschool hours singing to her songs in my locked bedroom - holding anything I could find as a pretend microphone...

Early 90's: apa lagi kalo bukan... New Kids on The Block! Those who knew me back then would tell you how SEVERELY fanatical I was - so much so that now I think I was a bit pathetic ;P

Late 90's: began to find my true interest in music, won two 1st prizes & 1 runner-up in 1997 Asia Bagus <not bad lah!>. Started playing in bands at schools/unis as well as cafes all around JKT & Bandung. Got a gig as a backing vocalist for REZA and went on tour with her in 1998. Sang in a band with Cynthia <AB 3>, sang for Magic Johnson - for crying out loud! Also recorded some backing vocals for local singers. My fave band of all was Callahary, though - loved the guys, their music, skills, and professionalism. Too bad they've now gone their separate ways...

Mid 2000: mengundurkan diri dari dunia 'nyanyi' because... I got married! As simple as that - the things you sacrifice...
